A US consumer spends an average of 598 billion dollars per year on recreational products of different sorts. So where exactly does the money go?

The following is a list of top 10 personal consumption expenditures for recreation in the United States. The numbers are in billions of dollars and represent the market value of purchase of goods and services by individuals and nonprofit organizations.

Basically, it’s a list of top 10 products the US consumer spends his money on, per year. Would you like to know what they are…here is the list:

1. 190 billion on: lotteries, pets, cable TV, film processing, photographic studios, sporting and recreation camps, and video cassette rentals.

2. 151.5 billion on: video and audio products, computer equipment, and musical instruments.

3. 115.3 billion: billiard parlors, bowling alleys, dancing, riding, shooting, skating, swimming, amusement parks, golf courses, sightseeing buses, private flying operations, and casino gambling.

4. 90.1 billion on: video and audio goods, computers, peripherals, and software.

5. 78.9 billion on: boats, pleasure aircraft, and photographic equipment
